(SAVANNAH, Ga.)- The Savannah Arts Academy's Theatre Department presents the world premier of "The Message," a one act adaptation of a Thornton Wilder playlet written by Drew Davis.

The Savannah Arts Academy's Theatre Department under the direction of Andrea Verdis, Theatre Department Chair, presents a Thornton Wilder adaptation, "The Message," by Drew Davis on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

"The Message" is about an accidental mix-up at a Parisian ring shop which causes a divide between not one, not two, but three bewildered couples in this witty adaptation of Thornton Wilder's playlet "The Message" and "Jehanne." Jealous fiancés and clever plot twists abound in a delightful ode to the old-fashioned romantic comedy. Will love triumph? Qui sait?

Playscripts Inc. partnered with the Thornton Wilder Estate to sponsor a one act playwriting competition in which playwrights were to take a Thornton Wilder playlet and expand it to a one act play. Drew Davis' play, The Message was the winning play. Davis is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America and the American Association of Community Theatre. He is a freelance writer in the Augusta, Georgia area. His plays have been produced in San Diego, Chicago, and the southeast including Atlanta, as well as in Cheshire, England. Two of his short stories were published in the Award-Winning Tales western anthology.

Proceeds benefit the theatre department's productions, conferences, and scholarship fund.

The Savannah Arts Academy is a specialty visual and performing arts public high school whose mission is to develop graduates who exemplify academic and artistic excellence.
